About the Low Emission Zone Retrofit Fund

The Low Emission Zone Retrofit Fund will provide micro businesses, who operate within one of Scotland’s four proposed low emission zones, with support to retrofit their existing non-compliant vehicles with Clean Vehicle Retrofit Accreditation Scheme (CVRAS) approved solutions that meet the minimum proposed standards of the low emission zones.

Grants are available to cover up to 80% of the cost of a retrofit solution, subject to the following terms and conditions:

  • light commercial vehicles (LCVs) – 80% of the cost, up to a maximum of £5,000
  • taxis – 80% of the cost, up to a maximum of £10,000
  • heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) and refuse collection vehicles (RCVs) – 80% of the cost, up to a maximum of £16,000

For more information about the fund, please view our FAQ document and process flow diagram.

Eligibility criteria

The retrofit solution applied for must be CVRAS-approved. Please review available CVRAS-approved solutions for different makes and models of vehicle, and download our eligibility criteria.

If there is currently no available retrofit solution for your vehicle but you are still interested in the fund, please email LEZFund@est.org.uk with the subject line ‘Low Emission Zone Retrofit Fund – retrofit solutions’ and tell us the make and model of your vehicle.

Energy Saving Trust cannot guarantee if or when a suitable solution will be made available for your vehicle.

To apply, you will need to meet our eligibility criteria and have contacted one of the CVRAS-approved suppliers to secure a quote for the work. You will need to submit this quote along with an application form to Energy Saving Trust, who will assess your application and issue a grant offer letter.

Please do not commission or pay for any work prior to receiving this formal grant offer, as this will render your application ineligible.
