ComputerDen is another great example of circularity in Tayside.

Although until recently their spare electronics were recycled accordingly, Computerden recently rented the space next door so they can store and categorise different electronic components, turning material that would previously become waste, into a resource for future products.

Their idea is simple, yet very circular- people will bring their old broken electronic devices like old laptops and kettles etc. They will then be fixed by using the appropriate parts from the storage unit next door, that have come from other unwanted/broken devices, after they are fixed they can be sold at a much lower price or even donated to those that can't afford them. Ideally, this would eventually become a trading/bartering system that will allow for maximum circularity at minimum cost, while also producing societal benefits- a truly inspiring aim.

They also hope to start donating computers to local schools/families that are in need of a computer for homeschooling and other activities. Several customers have already donated their old computers and they are starting to put them together for people to use completely free, once they are done with they can be brought back and refurbed keeping the cycle going.

ComputerDen is currently discussing collaboration with Sustainable Kirriemuir, that is another great initiative, aiming to increase sustainability in the local area. The collaboration aims to reduce the cost of fixing for the consumer and ensure that no device goes to recycling.
