We at Kilmac have been carrying out “Circular Economy” for years. One of our main tasks is to divert material from Landfill, so that it can be used on another site or works. For example, we try to rehouse soils from every site we are on. Whether that is Top Soil into another job we have or Sub Soil for reclamation, Food Defence or Farming benefit, the last thing we want to happen is it going to Landfill.
One example of circular economy, was carried out at Mill Street in Perth, designed By DCC. Where we took all the material (slabs, sets, block. Stone) from the street and replaced them with shiny new slabs and setts. We utilised the material we took out back into the works, by crushing offsite to a 75mm down and using it for capping.
The remainder of the soil, was taken to a local golf club to extend their access to a Tee, under licence from SEPA.
