Jillian Elizabeth, The Little Green Larder

I’m Jillian, and in July of 2019, I launched The Little Green Larder on Perth Road in Dundee. I was seeking for a more ecologically responsible job path after 12 years in the cosmetics industry. My father was reared with a make-do-and-mend mentality, which he instilled in me.

I heard about the Circular Tayside Charter through an e newsletter from Circular Tayside. It sounded like the perfect way to showcase all of the circular practices that I have adopted since I opened the shop in 2019. Along with becoming an ambassador the charter is a way that businesses can set goals and work towards becoming more circular, however this has been a priority for The Little Green Larder from day one. Luckily we didn’t have to make any changes within the business to receive the silver award as sustainability is already our top priority.

I’ve always been aware of our influence on the environment, and I’m passionate about living a sustainable lifestyle. I attempted to shop as little as possible, but I couldn’t seem to discover someplace that carried a few plastic-free goods. I was fed up with waiting for a sustainable business to open, and after some soul-searching, I realised I could do it myself, and The Little Green Larder was born.

The Little Green Larder is a team of friendly and helpful staff are happy to help at all times. We are more than just your average shop workers; we are dedicated to creating environmental change and working towards a greener and more sustainable future. They aim provide a complete zero waste shopping experience that is accessible, sustainable and affordable. While working with Scottish producers and suppliers where possible to bring you quality local products. Together we are all able to be the change-makers our planet needs.
