Peel Tech

Peel Tech is a Scottish invention from Kinross which takes waste from a typical potato peeler separating waste skin and compacting potato starch so that drains are free from waste and water is not polluted by the starches, causing eutrophication.  The technology is being rolled out across typical “Fish and Chip” shops in Scotland and helps businesses comply with Waste Regulations. However being legal is not the only result of this technology.

With the use of PeelTech fish and chips businesses can separate the peels and starches and then sell them on as animal feed, fuel for Anaerobic Digestion plants or even in the cosmetics industry. This is a great example of how collaboration can move us towards a more circular future. With he use of innovative technology, private sector and emerging markets  we valorise a former waste and move it up in the waste hierarchy!
